Swinging for a Cause

Turning loss into legacy, we raise funds to support families who’s angels were taken too soon.

There are few pains in this world as isolating and profound as the loss of a child. In the UK, the heartbreaking reality is that every single day, around 13 families suffer the devastating loss of a baby before, during, or shortly after birth, with an estimated one in six pregnancies ending in miscarriage. For those who walk this path, the grief changes the fabric of your life forever—yet amidst that profound sorrow, you realize just how vital compassionate, specialized healthcare support is during those darkest hours.

That painful reality hit home for my family with the loss of our first child in 2022. It opened my eyes to the incredible, dedicated care provided by the Maternity Bereavement Team at West Suffolk Hospital through My WiSH Charity. I wanted to take that grief and build something positive out of it—creating a space where people could come together, share a great day on the course, and rally behind a cause that means everything to us.

A man and a little girl are playing golf on a small green course in an outdoor setting with tall grass and trees. The man is wearing a blue and pink gradient shirt, black shorts, and a black cap, while the girl is dressed in a pink hat, a pink shirt, and patterned shorts. There are golf clubs and a golf bag nearby, and the little girl looks excited while the man is leaning over, helping her hold a golf club.

What started as a grassroots effort has evolved into an incredible journey. Back in 2024, for our very first year, my family members and I—all completely new to golf—took on the grueling challenge of playing 100 holes in a single day to raise funds for My WiSH. It was undeniably hard, but we pushed through for the cause. By our second year, our numbers grew to eight people as we tackled 72 holes in one day, added a raffle, and successfully surpassed our previous efforts.

Then came 2026, which was an amazing event that took things to an entirely new level. I hosted the first official JSP Annual Stableford competition with 12 players, various trophies and prizes, and fantastic hole sponsors, making it our most successful year yet. Building on that momentum, we are now looking forward and working toward an even bigger 2027 competition.
